Founded in 2018, ParivarBayArea is the nation’s first Hijra, Kinnar, and Global South transgender immigrant-led organization, rooted in San Francisco and serving communities across the Bay Area and beyond.

We create culturally responsive pathways to belonging, leadership, economic opportunity, legal access, emergency support, advocacy, arts, and community for transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex immigrants, asylees, families, and community members.

Over eight years, ParivarBayArea has reached more than 104,000 people, creating spaces where people can be seen, supported, celebrated, and empowered to lead. After navigating an unprecedented funding crisis, Parivar is rebuilding and opening a new chapter in San Francisco.

We are still here. We are rebuilding. And together, we are creating a permanent cultural home where our communities can belong, heal, lead, and thrive.

Parivar Bay Area is the USA's first & only Kinnar Hijrah led and empowering organization centering Indian South Asian and Global South transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex (TGNCI) immigrants and asylees, particularly those culturally rooted gender-expansive identities since 2018. Based in San Francisco with global mindset, we are rooted in Indian heritage, Trans leadership, and immigrant justice, we advance social, economic, and legal equity through advocacy, arts, direct support, and leadership development. We reclaim spaces beyond cisnormativity, confront systemic barriers, and build bold, affirming pathways where our communities thrive locally and globally grounded in dignity, belonging, and pride
